How does US-to-Mexico DDP work, and how is it different from shipping direct to Mexico?
US-to-Mexico does not use a direct Mexico service. Cargo sails on the mainline US route to the West Coast, clears US customs on discharge, crosses into Mexico overland, and is then entered by a local broker for import declaration and final delivery. Compared with shipping direct, it borrows the depth and sailing frequency of the US trades, so space is easier to lock and easier to combine with cargo you already move on that lane; the trade-off is an extra overland leg and an extra border clearance, which adds nodes and makes single-provider coordination matter more. Devtrans keeps all six segments — domestic pickup, booking, export declaration, US transhipment, the border clearance and Mexican delivery — behind one point of contact, and takes both FCL and LCL. Quotes come as duty-paid, where we advance the duty and settle at an all-in price, or duty-unpaid, which suits shippers clearing in the actual consignee's name. Documents are pre-checked against Mexican requirements and classification is confirmed before sailing. Contact the Shenzhen team to scope a specific move.
